- Download the Mint App. It is free, provides monthly credit scores and monitors when spending habits change, avoidable fees are incurred, and tracks things like subscription fees, which tend to go on and on even after the useful life of those subscriptions are of value to you or your family.
- Subscription fees: Look at your Apple account, your Amazon account, any recurring charge on your debit or credit cards and decide if you really use it and need it.
- Bring that jar of spare change to the bank and deposit it.
- Look at any credit cards that have an annual fee and decide if that fee more than pays for the benefits on the card. If it doesn’t call the bank and have the account switched to a card with a lesser or no annual fee.
- Renegotiate your cell phone and cable bills if it’s been some time. There are always deals out there.
- Make dinner every night for a week (or longer).
- Move credit card balances to lower interest cards.
- Coupon Apps: Check out the Apps for stores you shop at frequently. Stores like Target, Michael’s, and national grocery store chains have coupon apps that can help you save money every time you shop. There is a computer App called Honey that will try discount codes when you are shopping online too or give you Honey Gold that you can trade-in for things like Amazon gift cards.
